Zouk workshops with Minerva Draeger

The Brazilian dance taking the world by storm...

Zouk is an elegant & energetic Brazilian dance style, danced to the intoxicating French Caribbean rhythm called Zouk. Words synonymous with Zouk are beautiful, flowing, graceful, smooth, sophisticated & stunning. In Creole, Zouk means PARTY. Zouk, the dance, is an evolution from Lambada: a dance craze that sent the world into a sexy spin in the 1980s. When the Lambada music stopped in Brazil, dancers started using their wave-like movements to the Zouk music. A sophisticated dance style emerged, characterised by smooth & elongated movements & striking hair movements of the lady.

We at Melbourne Salsa are proud to bring you a specialised workshop to give you a taste of this beautiful Brazilian dance... In future we hope to dedicate weekly classes with this style.

Instructor: Minerva Draeger
Australian born Minerva Draeger came across Latin and Brazilian dance styles while studying Classical ballet and Contemporary at University. Falling in love with the music and dance straight away, it quickly became a major part of her life and has been ever since.

Her dance studies, teaching and performing have taken to her such places as Italy, Germany, Austria, Africa and Australia and has danced on various arenas including film, television and festivals in both Australia and Europe.

Minerva has been working in Latin/Brazilian floor shows since 2003, dancing styles such as samba, salsa, axe, zouk lambada and latin hip hop. Zouk lambada quickly became one of her biggest passions and was taught by Futa Ofamooni, a student of London based Zoukeiro Barry Lasoju.

Dance is a universal language that has no barriers. It can be understood and enjoyed by anyone around the world. I hope to share this with others, celebrating life and culture and the global community we live in. Minerva Draeger.

The Zouk Workshop will be held on:

Sunday 9th of March
2 Beginner sessions available from
10.30am - 12pm
&
12.00pm - 1.30pm
These workshops will be covering the basic steps, rhythm and movements of Zouk Lambada, including partner work, to give you a good understanding of the steps and style ensuring plenty of dancing pleasure out on the Zouk dance floor!

Cost is $25 for each session.
Maximum of 30 students per session.

Workshop will be held at the UNITED STYLES DANCE STUDIO, on Chapel street near the corner of Brighton Rd. (Studio next to church).

Zouk workshops with Brazil's finest Kadu and Larissa

Internationally renowned choreographers and performers will be in Melbourne for one weekend only teaching the HOTTEST new dance style ZOUK!! Workshops will be open and welcome to all levels beginners – advanced. They will be teaching everything you need to know to become a seasoned Zouk dancer, from basic rhythm to body isolation. They are undoubtedly THE BEST Zouk dancers and instructors to hit Aussie shores. With so many credentials in their name it would fill this entire page; it’s probably easier to just see their dancing.
